Chatty Spring Ballz

Voted best acoustic sculpture at Bay Area Aeolian Day, 2015!

Chatty Spring Ballz is an interactive kinetic exploration into the hidden acoustic world of small-scale steel, best heard through pressure transduction.  Piezoelectric contact microphones are connected to lathe-wound springs, allowing them to sense small movement impulses and vibrations created from the collision of the high-tension spring steel materials. Unexpected dynamic sounds are the result.
